First United Methodist Church - 203 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, UT
Join us for a unique program featuring two composers of vastly different renown. The first, Mozart, is one of the most popular and well-known composers in all of classical music. The second, however, may be unfamiliar to even the most devoted classical music enthusiast: Joseph Bologne Chevalier Saint-Georges, sometimes referred to as "the Black Mozart." The son of a Caribbean slave, he moved to Paris where he became a virtuoso violinist, a renowned composer, a world-class swordsman, an influential abolitionist, and a military hero in the French revolution. Sinfonia Salt Lake will perform several of his compositions, including a symphony, some ballet music, and two opera arias, sung by soprano Melissa Heath. Come enjoy an exciting program of music both familiar and new!
